On November 9 we had our Mission Sunday service. What a great morning it turned out to be! Things kicked off during the Sunday School hour when we skyped in Patrick Maxwell to hear him share about the work God is doing in eastern Congo. Patrick shared with the adults while Margaret de Jong shared with one of the children’s classes. Margaret is serving in Senegal. The kids enjoyed this active story telling time with Margaret. She had a lot of fun activities and wrote out all of their names in the language of the area she is serving in.
During the children’s story time, Margaret shared about the children in the area she serves receiving Operation Christmas Child boxes. She explained to the kids that even a pencil or lollipop are considered huge treasures for many children in our world. Then she handed out pencils and lollipops to the kids which was a huge hit! Margaret also brought our message.
After the service, there was a carry-in. While the food and fellowship were great parts of this event, the highlight was the cakes that were made representing Africa. What creative people we have in our church! The cakes turned out so great!
It was a great time and we got to learn about all that God is doing in other parts of the world. How awesome that our God that we serve here in Hillsboro, KS is the same God that Margaret and Patrick serve in other countries far from here!
