We encourage you to consider being one of 50 people who will contribute reflective writing for the celebration of 50 years of our FMC Building. This will be scanned and placed on the FMC website. We invite 50 people (or more!) to submit writing of no more than 250 words. Writers should have some connection to First Mennonite Church. Writers can be alive or deceased. Contributions can be in the form of poetry, faith memories, anecdotes, or any expression you think would be meaningful in a general or specific way to our FMC family. Contributions can be turned in as hard copy, or preferably, sent electronically to the FMC Church Office with the name of the writer included. Written pieces will be posted on the FMC Website, or possibly some other kind of printed format. Thank you!
Recipes – Hospitality
Do you have a recipe that you “always” bring to carry-ins? Is there a recipe from someone in past for which a certain recipe was well known? Or, do you have a good recipe for a large group to share? Do you have ANY recipe you would like to share? J
Anyone from the FMC community is welcome to bring such recipes to the FMC office. It will be scanned and posted on the FMC website as part of our celebration of 50 years in our current building. If there is an FMC connection, please include that explanation with the recipe. Thank you!
Photos – FMC Church Office
Do you have a photo of FMC life? This is the time to send photos to the church office to add to our collection of historic photos on our FMC website. You can scan the photo yourself and send it electronically, or you can speak directly to Becky Gage about the photo. Please help us identify the photo, including your name and an explanation of the photo, including identification of people in the photo. Thank you!

Sunday, February 19 for one night and one night only Hi-FY Kitchen was open. Hi-FY hosted a semi-formal meal in the fellowship hall. The atmosphere was beautiful and the food and service were wonderful. Thank you, Hi-FY!
Tonight is the night! Wednesday evening meal and activities begin again starting tonight. Join us for a meal of sloppy joes, chips, veggies and dip, orange wedges and cookie bars for dessert. All are welcome! Meal at 6:15 p.m. and activities for children and adults follow at 7 p.m.
The spirit was high at the FMC Christmas Eve Service! Children’s songs bubbled over with sincere hearts and beautiful words about this special night when Jesus was born. We sang carols, story-telling, listened to organ music and heard a vocal solo, “Sweet Little Jesus Boy.” We worshiped in the quiet beauty of candlelight and the singing of “Silent Night.”
Each person was greeted with a paper bag of treats as we left the sanctuary. Cider and lively conversation was shared in Fellowship Hall, with the added interest of the Hi’FY’s Gingerbread Church and the multi-colored mural colored by children and all ages of us here at First Mennonite.
Thank you, God, for the season of Advent and the gift of your Son!
FMC’s Christmas Eve Service will begin on December 24, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Refreshments will be served in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Below is a copy of the program for the evening.
Twenty Tabor students came to join in a delicious meal of Pozole, chips, and great desserts on December 4. The piñata was as fun as ever. Thank you, First Mennonite, to those involved in the Hispanic Group and for FMC’s financial support through the Mission and Service Fund. Following are some pictures from the event.
