Joel saves the day!

What would we do without Joel? We don’t want to find out! Here is a pic of what it took for Joel to save the day when our old sound system didn’t want to cooperate. Thanks, Joel. FMC appreciates everything you do to keep us up and running!

Mission Sunday: October 15, 2017

“Sent to Encourage Mission and the Multiethnic Church” was Mission Sunday’s theme which our guest speaker, Joe Sawatzky of Mennonite Mission Network shared with us.

Joe served in South Africa with his wife, Anna, both under Mennonite Mission Network. Joe was “a Bible teacher and friend to pastors” in the areas of biblical education and leadership development for members of African Initiated Churches. Joe and Anna have four sons, Isaac, Moses, Levi and Jesse.

As per tradition, the FMC congregation was asked to bring a decorated cake to the carry-in inspired by the theme this year, “Love is a Verb”. Look below to see some of the beautiful cakes provided by our FMC family.

It’s happening now!

As we write this, Warren Dalke and Mike Kleiber are removing the remaining foundation wall that was by our old chain link fence on the south side of the FMC property.

Amazing to see them both at work. We lift prayers of gratitude that this area can soon look cleaner and be used.

Thank you FMC Stewardship, Mike and Warren!

Wednesday Evening Activities and “South 25” Celebration

Tonight is the night we begin our Wednesday evening meal and activities again here at First Mennonite. The meal will be served at 6:15 p.m. and activities start at 7 p.m. Menu will be posted weekly under the Events & Ministries tab.

We’re also having a celebration at 7 p.m. tonight for the purchase of the “South 25”. This is 25 feet of land we purchased south of the south parking lot. This extra land opens up many opportunities still being discussed.

Come join us tonight for a good meal and fellowship together!

50th Build-A-Versary!

50TH BUILD-A-VERSARY: Celebration of 50 years!

Reflective Writing – Worship

We encourage you to consider being one of 50 people who will contribute reflective writing for the celebration of 50 years of our FMC Building. This will be scanned and placed on the FMC website. We invite 50 people (or more!) to submit writing of no more than 250 words. Writers should have some connection to First Mennonite Church. Writers can be alive or deceased. Contributions can be in the form of poetry, faith memories, anecdotes, or any expression you think would be meaningful in a general or specific way to our FMC family. Contributions can be turned in as hard copy, or preferably, sent electronically to the FMC Church Office with the name of the writer included. Written pieces will be posted on the FMC Website, or possibly some other kind of printed format. Thank you!

Recipes – Hospitality

Do you have a recipe that you “always” bring to carry-ins? Is there a recipe from someone in past for which a certain recipe was well known? Or, do you have a good recipe for a large group to share? Do you have ANY recipe you would like to share? J

Anyone from the FMC community is welcome to bring such recipes to the FMC office. It will be scanned and posted on the FMC website as part of our celebration of 50 years in our current building. If there is an FMC connection, please include that explanation with the recipe. Thank you!

Photos – FMC Church Office

Do you have a photo of FMC life? This is the time to send photos to the church office to add to our collection of historic photos on our FMC website. You can scan the photo yourself and send it electronically, or you can speak directly to Becky Gage about the photo. Please help us identify the photo, including your name and an explanation of the photo, including identification of people in the photo. Thank you!
